Price: 4,900.- DKK per item

Item number: 582774

Description: Diameter 24 cm.
Length with handle 39 cm.

The pan is signed 2, for J. Chr. Hansen who was a blue painter from 1803 to 1862 with a short break in 1812-1815.
The very gray porcelain is due to delivery difficulties of kaolin from France, due to the Napoleonic Wars that raged in Europe from 1803 to 1815.
During this period, Royal Copenhagen had to use kaolin from Bornholm, which was not nearly as pure as the French. This period is referred to as the "2nd Bornholm period". The first was at the beginning of the factory's life.
After 1815, the factory was able to clean the Bornholm kaolin sufficiently to be able to use it instead of the French kaolin that they were offered in 1817. The oan must therefore be from the period 1815, when Hansen is re-employed, until very shortly after when the factory achieves satisfactory results in purifying kaolin.

The bottom part has 4 minor chips on the inner rim and the handle have an old repair.
