A set of acid-washed hyacint vases

Sold
Item number: 417342

Description: Height 21 cm.

The set has gotten a very unusual surface treatment in that they have been dipped in acid, which has left them with a silky soft surface, as opposed to a sandblasting that makes the surface more rough.
Their optical twist is on the inside, oppose many of the newer copies whose optics are only on the outside.
Hyacinth glass is a longtime tradition, originally from France.
Queen Marie Antoinette filled Versailles with fragrant flower bulbs, hyacinths in glass vases made for it, with space for the bulb at the top, so that it did not touch the water and thereby got spoiled.

This model was manufactured at Fyens Glasværk from 1890 until 1930 in a lot of different colors. Similar models have been made at Holmegaard and Aalborg Glasswork.
