Parkerizing is a method of rust-protecting iron through an electrical phosphate treatment.
The method was invented by Parker Rust Proof Co. founded by C.W. and W.C. Parker in 1941 and used extensively during World War II in the manufacture of weapons.
The method was based on discoveries made by William Alexander Ross and Thomas Watts Coslett made in 1907, which was refined throughout the 1910s and 1920s.

The big difference between this former method and Parkers was that Parker had based his method on easily accessible materials, ie domestic materials, which proved practical when World War II broke out.
