Height 18.5 cm.

Antique coffee pot from Royal Copenhagen.

The pot is signed 2, for J. Chr. Hansen who was a blue painter from 1803 to 1862 with a short break in 1812-1815.
The very gray porcelain is due to delivery difficulties of kaolin from France, due to the Napoleonic Wars that raged in Europe from 1803 to 1815.
During this period, Royal Copenhagen had to use kaolin from Bornholm, which was not nearly as pure as the French. This period is referred to as the "2nd Bornholm period". The first was at the beginning of the factory's life.
After 1815, the factory was able to clean the Bornholm kaolin sufficiently to be able to use it instead of the French kaolin that they were offered in 1817. The jug must therefore be from the period 1815, when Hansen is re-employed, until very shortly after when the factory achieves satisfactory results in purifying kaolin.

The jug is in good condition, is crooked from the fire, has 3 chips and a slight shade difference from production. On the lid, the small metal lid is missing, otherwise in perfect condition.
